Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It became an official Federal holiday in 1863, when, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens," to be celebrated on Thursday, November 26. Also, there are reports that the original Thanksgiving proclamation was signed by George Washington. As a federal and public holiday in the U.S., Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year. Together with Christmas and New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season, so it's definitely time to think about ways that you can give thanks for another year of life and productivity.  So what better way to do so than to give a cruise that includes all your favorite colleagues, clients and business associates?

As the Summer sets behind us and we look ahead to the Fall, this time of year brings about a pleasant reminder of the change in nature's "seasons" as we also gear up for the holiday "season."

Dating back as far as one can remember, typical festive traditions usually kicked off the season with Halloween activities which included trick-or-treating, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing,telling scary stories, and watching horror films. In some parts of the world, on "All Hallow's Eve" they even still recognize the ancient tradition of visiting cemeteries and lighting candles on the graves of family and friends.

Labor Day in the US is a holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is a celebration of the American Labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.  Labor Day was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, who organized the first parade in New York City. In 1887, it was established as an official holiday in September to support the Labor Day that the Knights favored.

Labor Day has come to be celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. In high society, Labor Day is (or was) considered the last day of the year when it is fashionable to wear white[or seersucker. Also In the United States, many school districts resume classes around the Labor Day holiday weekend. Most begin the week before, making Labor Day weekend the first three-day weekend of the school calendar, while others return the Tuesday following Labor Day, allowing families one final get away before the school year begins. Did you know that Independence Day, July 4th has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941?  However, the tradition of Independence Day celebrations actually go as far back as the 18th century and the American Revolution (1775-83). In June 1776, representatives of the 13 colonies then fighting in the revolutionary struggle weighed a resolution that would declare their independence from Great Britain. On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with typical festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.

Greetings to all of our faithful followers, clients and friends,

Here is to hoping that everyone enjoyed their holidays with family, friends and of course lots of fun!  We at Del Rio's Yachts are excited about the prospects of the future, but would first like to thank everyone who utilized our services for this past year's business, as we look forward to a mutually prosperous 2014!

Please accept this first communication of the new year as a gentle reminder that if you're interested in having a wedding, birthday party, anniversary celebration, or any other type of event for that matter, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible for a FREE consultation and proposal.   You should also be aware that history has shown us that by February most prime dates will be booked for the year, so the sooner you make a decision the better off you are in getting the yacht and date of your choice.
